Baba wa Kurat Al'Qadam
Lily Razuki, Baba wa Kurat Al’Qadam, digital collage printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm, 2025, (prints of all sizes available)
My Jidou took this image of my Baba playing Kurat Al’Qadam (Football) on the beach in the South of France. Inspired by retro Football posters from the 2000’s and before, I really wanted to create a poster that someone would look at and think “WOW! I need that on my wall!”
Football is such a powerful beast, it can unite enemies and divide families. But despite the competitiveness that comes with it, it is a unique and inherent type of love that is accessible to all types of people. I feel it, like it’s a language of the universe. A ball speaks so many different languages, it can give two people who come from completely different parts of the world something to passionately gossip about. We need to talk about and celebrate the things in our culture that can do that.
